What is it about the color amber? It’s a color that holds a certain warmth and mystery, a hue that can be found in everything from a brilliant sunset to a treasured piece of fossilized resin. This month, we’ve challenged ourselves to dive deep into this captivating color, each in our own unique way. The results? A beautiful tapestry of amber-hued projects, proving that even a single color can spark endless creativity.

Tiffany’s Resin Paper & Charms

Tiffany embraced the liquid gold quality of amber by creating her own resin paper and charms. The final pieces are a perfect example of transforming a simple color into something with depth, light, and a jewel-like quality, proving that even a single hue can hold a universe of complexity.

Kristin’s Flour and Salt Spoons

Kristin, used the line, amber waves of grain and brought a cozy, rustic feel to the challenge with flour and salt dough spoons. She created charmingly imperfect spoons from a simple dough. The result is a collection of wonderfully wonky, handcrafted spoons.

DeeDee’s Anthotype / Solar Dyeing

DeeDee took a truly magical approach, harnessing the power of the sun to create anthotype and solar-dyed pieces. As the sun worked its magic, it revealed beautiful amber-toned prints, each one a unique collaboration between nature and art.

Gabrielle’s Journal Pages

And we were so honored to have our guest artist, Gabrielle Heckenbucker join us on our amber journey! She created a series of journal pages featuring the color amber in a stunning display of mixed-media artistry. Her pages are a rich blend of texture and pattern, with layers of paper and paint all brought together with a focus on our color of the month.
